How to Watch Prince Philip’s Funeral in Australia

If you’re wanting to farewell Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, you can watch the livestream on Channel 7 and Channel 9.

The funeral won’t start til around midnight our time, but as you’d expect there’s plenty of coverage in the lead-up. Channel 7 is even showing the movie The Queen in some markets to take advantage of the royal mood.

Channel 7's coverage will start from 6.30pm AEST while Channel 9 will have special coverage from 11pm.

The ceremonial royal funeral will be held at St George's Chapel, in the grounds of Windsor Castle. Only 30 guests will be allowed to attend due to coronavirus restrictions and they will need to follow social distancing rules in the chapel.

Coverage from the two channels is different for the various states, but here are the key timings you need to know if you don't want to miss things: 

11.40pm
The coffin will emerge from the State Entrance of Windsor Castle and placed on a specially built Land Rover.

11.45pm
The procession will then make its way to St George’s Chapel. Members of the Royal Family who will walk behind the coffin are:
* Princess Anne and Prince Charles
* Prince Edward and Prince Andrew
* Prince Harry, Peter Philips, and Prince William
* Princess Anne's husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence and Antony Armstrong Jones

Midnight
The Dean of Windsor will conduct the Funeral Service and it’s expected to last for about an hour.

But if you’re not keen to stay up so late, you can sign an online book of condolences instead.
