Turns out thieves have standards too.

A burglar in India was so dissatisfied with their victim's possessions that they left an angry note for them to find when they got back.

The incident recently took place at Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district, where a homeowner returned from a two-week holiday to find jewellery and thousands of rupees stolen (worth about AUD$500).

However, before fleeing the scene with loot-in-hand, the thief penned a handwritten message for their victim.

Written with a notepad and pen belonging to the homeowner, the note read "Jab paise nahi they toh lock nahi karna tha na collector!", which roughly translates to "where there is no money, it should not have been locked, collector."

Naturally, the story has gone viral with Twitter users commentating on the bizarre incident.

"Only in India can you get scolded by thieves who break into your home," wrote one user, while another added, "money heist failed."
